The University of the Third Age (U3A) was founded in France in 1972 and was established in the UK in 1982. The University of the Third Age is a university in its original sense where people meet together for the purpose of learning and passing on their knowledge to others.There are no examinations and the only qualification is a desire to learn and/or teach others with similar interests.

St Neots & District University of the Third Age is one of 844 branches of the U3A in the United Kingdom which in total have over 275048 members. St Neots and District U3A currently has 523 members.
